The Best Beer Bars in New Orleans

Breweries are great, but sometimes you’ve gotta switch it up and hit up a bar with a good tap list. Check out the best spots to do so in NOLA:

Avenue Pub

Avenue Pub

By far the best tap list in the city, Avenue Pub is repeatedly ranked as one of the best beer bars in the country. Their balcony overlooking Saint Charles Avenue is a great place to hang out and watch the streetcars roll by.

The Bulldog

The Bulldog has two locations—one on Magazine Street in the Lower Garden District and one in Mid-City right off Canal. The LGD location > the Mid-City location. The outside patio is definitely a perk, with a cute tap handle fountain and dogs galore.

Bratz Y’all

A German-themed bar with beer by the liter and half-liter. Grab a pretzel and some German foods and transport yourself across the Atlantic!

Bayou Beer Garden

A tropical oasis in the Bayou St John neighborhood. The back patio with palm trees and big screens is always overflowing on Friday nights. Neighboring Bayou Wine Garden makes this spot the best combination for everyone!

Cooter Brown’s

More of a dive-bar than the other locations, Cooter Brown’s is Uptown near the river bend. PSA that a cockroach once fell on my head here, but they have a great tap selection and delicious bar food. Especially popular during football season.
